News literacy is reading about the news. Being able to keep up with the news is extremely crucial nowadays since everything gets around quickly. We need to be able to know what to look for and what to think if we come across an article that's not credible. The role that newspapers play in our democracy is helping the news get around. It shows recent events about things we might not know about. My ELA teacher told us that, for example, if the government did something shady, the newspaper could be able to write about it and draw attention to the subject. The role we play in the terms of news is being able to know what's going on around us. We shouldn't be oblivious to what's happening around us because soon, if we start voting and vote randomly for a president we don't even know, we might have made a bad choice that could have brought down our country. We need to know what's happening in the world around us to make important decisions that could impact our lives and the lives of others.
